Domestic Violence Call Ending in a death in Madison County

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 27, 2016

Sheriff Blake Dorning announced today that Deputies from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of Old Wood Rd., Huntsville last evening to investigate a call for service relating to possible Domestic Violence. Upon arrival they made contact with John Donald Stice, age 75, w/m and Martha Ann Stice, age 65, w/f, a married couple living at this address. Preliminary investigation revealed that John Stice was shot one time by his wife Martha Stice. Investigation so far has indicated there was possibly a Domestic Violence altercation between the two parties that precipitated the shooting. Martha Stice had lacerations on her chest and shoulder area as a result of this altercation.  John Stice died as a result of the gunshot wound. The case is still under investigation pending additional information, interviews, and autopsy report with findings.  Due to the facts obtained in this case to date, no arrest has been made; however, the case may be presented to a Grand Jury upon case conclusion.
